As with any RPG, art is essential to stimulating the imagination. A decade ago, we couldn’t imagine that AI would deliver creativity to the doorstep of the unskilled and unimaginative. Much like in a search engine, we can give shape and form to concepts and ideas using word prompts. The complexity now includes designing xeno-lifeforms using anatomical terms such as digitigrade to create the sci-fiction anatomical changes of space wolves or, in the case of Traveller Vargr.
Using such terms, excluding them through negative prompts such as plantigrade, is crucial to avoid human Lowe extremities. AI engines haven’t caught on, but the examples show progress.
More to the point, by using AI, players and referees can add color, shape, and form to their games. These adjuncts bring so much more to the collective storytelling in our games.
